Why dont you offer THIS Comment-system to download?

Hi Linuxfan,

I've just started putting some more or less simple scripts online. This comment system is more complex as it contains PHP, JavaScript, a JavaScript library, CSS and some images. That shouldn't prevent me from creating a downloadable version, but first I want to fill the other sections on this page (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL) with some content, although they are not as large as the PHP section.

i put all the mysql informations in the config file but wenn i write a news there is standing: Inserting entry failed: Table 'massive-base_nes.news_manager' doesn't exist"

What is do to?

you need to call the "install.php" in your webbrowser first. This will install the MySQL table.

Will you help me, I set up all the Easy Newsletter files to my website and when I try to send email with it , it then says Email sent..
I go check my inbox and email never sent please help

this problem might have two reasons:

1. The email cannot be sent.
Check your PHP configuration on your server and the SMTP gateway which is used. Are you able to send any emails from other PHP files on your server? If you can, this is not the problem.

2. The email was sent but did not arrive.
Are you able to send emails from any other PHP file on your server to your email-address? If so, check your spam folder. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your email-provider.

You can't just give you readers these crappy codes!
Most of them are highly insecure and apparently you never even heard about SQL-Injections before. All your codes lack even basic security features.
Try out the following request-parameter on "MySQL shoutbox v1":

A bit harsh, and while I understand the necessity for security (been hacked once or twice myself, so I know the pain), that "bastard operator from hell" attitude just makes you look like a grinchy prick. Instead of going the negativity route, why don't you sit down in front of your box, and craft up "superior" versions of what the code is supposed to be like (IYCO) and distribute that all over the net and bring some sort of value to that stank wind blowin' outta yer piehole. You remind of that buncha squacks over @ Digitalpoint Forums - all talkin' shite, but no coding skills to back it up (in 70% of the sadness brigade over there)

Hi Michael Anderson,

of course there is, but you will have to add some code and alter the database:

- add a column "validated" with CHAR(1) to the database table
- in the subscription form, modify the INSERT-statement and add the validated-column with value "f" (like "false")
- after inserting the new row into the database, send an email to the newly subscribed email-address using the mail() function
- in this email, include a link to a new page called validate.php and add the email-address as parameter, e.g. justsubscribed@anydomain.com" target="_blank">http://youdomain.com/newsletter/validate.php?email=justsubscribed@anydomain.com
- create the page validate.php; in this page you need to update the correct row in the database table and set the validated-column to "t" (like "true"); use the parameter "email" as key
- when inserting a new address using the admin-interface, you can set the validated-column to "t" as default
- finally, when sending a new newsletter, add the validated-column to the query (&& validated='t') to send the newsletter only to validated addresses

That's it!

I was trying to make the part that says TEST MESSAGE HERE to be a href link that says click here to verify your email address but i cant get the variable into the href.

I tried the following :

but I keep getting an error. Is there a better way to do this?

Last question..... All is working A ok now, just took me some time to get it there....

LAst thing..... When I go to the admin section, ive got a footer setup with html code. but when the email is recieved all you can see is code. The formatting isnt working. Any ideas?

If you use HTML-tags in the newsletter, you need to send the email in text/html instead of text/plain. Otherwise the tags won't be interpreted and will be displayed incorrectly.

I have successfully added text links that allow a user to be removed from the database. I would like to add check boxes so that I can delete multiple entries on a button click. How would I go about this.

I have this as my code on the check box <input type="checkbox" name="checkdel" value="&del=<?php echo $row["id"]; ?>">
and this on my form code <form name="form2" method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]; ?>?pwd=<?php echo $pwd; ?>">

then when I try to add the mysql statements I get errors saying unexpected T_Else. I dont know where to put my sql query in the script.

To delete multiple rows, the name of the checkbox must be "checkdel[]". This way, you'll get an array of values server side.

The T_Else error normally comes from an open brace - check your code.

Getting no errors showing sorted out the T_Else. Just not getting anything deleting.....

you need to delete the rows using a loop, because you get an array, for example:

foreach($_POST["checkdel"] as $id){
@mysql_query("DELETE FROM $db_table WHERE id=$id;");
}

Of course you can add some echo-statements to print what happened (e.g. "deleting row $id failed" and "deleting row $id succeeded").

You need to set the method of the form to post or put the parameters into input fields. First option is easier:
